When designing your backyard patio area it is wise to think of the whole area as "rooms" just like inside your house. For instance you do not need a pergola to cover over your whole patio area. You can have one corner delegated to just the pergola and under it would be a table and chairs and in other area's you may have a section for lounge chairs and an umbrella with maybe a side trellis to block out neighbors. Another area could be a fire pit or a grill cooking area. It is so good to envision all of your area sections ahead of time, even using graph paper to draw everything out. This will save you so much time and money.
